LIFE The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton

Prince William and Catherine Middleton became The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on marriage.

The Duke of Cambridge / Prince William of Wales KG FRS (William Arthur Philip Louis; born 21 June 1982) is the elder son of Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Princess Diana, Princess of Wales.

Prince William is the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

William is second in the line of succession, behind Prince Charles, to the thrones of 16 independent states but principally the United Kingdom.

Prince William was educated at four schools and obtained a degree from the University of St Andrews in Scotland.

William spent parts of a gap year in Chile, Belize and countries in Africa. He was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry, serving with his brother Prince Harry and, 2 years later, earned his wings by completing pilot training at Royal Air Force College Cranwell.

In 2009, Prince William transferred to the RAF and was promoted to flight lieutenant.  He underwent helicopter flying training in order to become a full time pilot with the Search and Rescue Force.

Royal Wedding

On 16 November 2010 it was announced by Clarence House that Prince William and his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton are to marry.

The marriage service took place at 11am BST / 10 am GMT on 29 April 2011 in Westminster Abbey, London.

Greenwich England is where East meets West at the Greenwich Meridian (0° Longitude); World Time is set Greenwich Mean Time. Remember the new millennium started in 2001.

The London Marathon starts in Greenwich Park every Spring.

Greenwich has a long heritage; it was the birth place of King Henry VIII and his daughters Queen Mary (Bloody Mary) and Queen Elizabeth I (The Virgin Queen).  All the English monarchs can be found at Royal History.

It has seen many famous visitors from Peter the Great through Charles Dickens to Bob Hope.  This and a lot more in Greenwich Past.
